Messmate Stringybark Slabs — Salvaged Macedon Ranges VIC
Eucalyptus obliqua
Messmate Stringybark is one of Australia’s most loved furniture timbers — known for its warm honey tones, subtle figuring, and exceptional workability. These slabs were salvaged from storm-damaged trees in the Macedon Ranges following the devastating June 2021 storms, giving this beautiful timber a second life.
After four years of air drying, slabs have been kiln dried to 10% moisture content and machined on both sides through the thicknesser — ready to go straight into your project.
Most slabs retain a natural live edge on one side, with some featuring live edges on both sides.
With 100 slabs available at time of writing, this is one of our largest current stocks — but turnover is high. We strongly recommend visiting the workshop in person to hand-pick your slabs, as the catalogue can’t keep pace with availability.
